Merchandise Preparation & Tagging
Everything you need to prep, price and tag your items so they sell – plus our ‘How To’ video library. Done right, your tagging goes faster, our shoppers check out faster, and your payout is ready sooner.
Before you tag, gather & price.
Two quick steps before you start: round up your supplies, then price every piece to sell.
Pricing to sell
- Price to sell – you don’t want it back! Competitive prices mean you take less home and earn more. Stumped? View our price reference guide.
- 25-40% of what you paid ($100 item would be $40 to $25 or less)
- Ask yourself: “What would I pay at a consignment sale?”
- Offer items at ½ OFF on the discount days – half the money beats no money. Discount days start 5 days after full price; if it hasn’t sold by then, it probably won’t.
Prepare clothing & accessories.
- 1Item limit of 65 hanging pieces and unlimited shoes, handbags, accessories, etc – UP TO 150 total items.
- 2Category limits: Pants – Spring 10 / Fall 15, 5 skirts, 25 jewelry, 5 scarves.
- 3Make sure all clothing is clean and free of rips or tears.
- 4Secure all buttons and zippers.
- 5Hang clothing with hangers facing left like a ? – ? – ? (see Prepping Your Items video below).
- 6When hanging SETS, be sure to secure both items / hangers together with a rubber band.
- 7Use notch hangers for strappy items (tanks & dresses) – no pins please.
- 8All bottoms must be hung by the waistband on a pant hanger, no pins please.
- 9When using a tagging gun, please only tag on a seam or in manufacturer’s tag.
- 10Green Jeans will rent pant hangers if you wish to bring your bottoms without hangers. A $5 rental fee will be deducted from your check following the sale. $5 for up to 20 hangers.
- 11Please DO NOT use safety pins when hanging bottoms.
- 12Please do not bring shoes in boxes. We do not have room to display shoes with boxes. DO NOT tie or tape your shoes together.
- 13Belts, scarves and hats will not require hangers. They will be displayed on tables or hung on hooks.

Complete & print tags
Consignor # · description · size · price
Tag it right.
Tags will include: consignor #, item description, size, price, Discount Yes or No & Donate Yes or No. Each consignor will determine if they will keep their item at full price or discount to ½ OFF during the last days of the sale (recommended – sellers have a MUCH higher percentage of items sold), and whether to donate the item after the sale. Mark all items DONATE YES and you can participate in express drop off (no waiting for your items to be quality checked!).
Attach tags to items.
- 1Attach your tag to the front of each hanging garment. We prefer tags be located on the front top right of the item.
- 2Some garments are too delicate to pin to the front. For those special garments or when using a tagging gun, we recommend attaching tags to a seam or inside label.
- 3Tags must be securely attached to shoes with ribbon and hole punch, safety pins or packing tape. Shoppers will be handling and trying them on. See the “How To Tag Accessories” video below. DO NOT tie your shoes together.
- 4When tagging high-end accessories, shoes, handbags, jewelry (> $75 price), place shipping tape OVER the area you hole punch the opening to attach the tag + for larger items, add MULTIPLE mini zip ties (can be found at Walmart).
- 5When tagging shoes, find a loop, hole, strap, FIRST and fasten tag with zip tie or ribbon. If you choose to use tape to tag shoes, please make sure it sticks.
- 6For high-end / designer items, DO NOT attach tags to shoe boxes or sunglass cases (shoe boxes only allowed with designer brands) as the box/case most likely will not stay with the shoes/accessory. Write ‘With Box’ or ‘With Case’ on the price tag so we know to check for it under the table in the designer section.
- 7Affix tags to other loose accessories using a tagging gun, ribbon or safety pins.
- 8For jewelry, attach tags using ribbon and hole punch.
- 9Earrings can be attached to a cardstock tag and taped on the back to further secure the earrings.
